IBS symptoms can be triggered by several different foods. You will need to adopt a special IBS diet plan if you wish to avoid experiencing the painful symptoms of your condition. Here are some foods that you may want to avoid.

The first category of foods that you should stop eating for your IBS diet are foods that are likely to cause you to have gas or flatulence. These foods irritate the colon area and can cause your IBS symptoms to flare-up. Different types of vegetables can cause irritation, including broccoli, cabbage, brussel sprouts, cauliflower, and onions. Each of these vegetables have a tendency to cause the stomach to react.

There are other foods that you may want to refrain from eating as well. Bananas can cause gas, as well as eating nuts or raisins. These foods have certain things in them that can cause flatulence to occur. Certain types of beans, as well as garlic and leeks should also be avoided to keep your intestinal tract working normally.

If you are trying to find your trigger foods, then you should avoid dairy and milk until you find the foods that trigger your symptoms. If you have to avoid dairy altogether, then you need to add a supplement to your diet so that you get all of the vitamins and minerals that you need.

Some IBS sufferers find that certain sugars can cause symptoms. Sugar substitutes are especially likely to cause an IBS flare-up, especially artificial sugars or sorbitol. Fructose is another type of sugar that commonly causes IBS symptoms and it is found in several kinds of fruit juice. By avoiding these types of sugar in your IBS diet, you will be able to determine if this is the cause of the reactions in your body.

Learning which food causes your IBS symptoms to flare-up is a very important key in being able to control your IBS. You will then know which foods to avoid for the proper planning of your special IBS diet. You can work to find substitutes for those trigger foods so that you can enjoy eating as much as possible or you may have to take vitamins or supplements to get the nutrition lost by avoiding these foods. Knowing what foods that you should avoid will give you great control over your IBS and will help you to live a normal, functioning life.
