Scour the web. There are many support groups on the web for all different kinds of diseases and disorders. Online forums and message boards are helpful locations where you can find friends in the same situation.
To search for the forum, use the appropriate keywords can help you to find the groups that you need, including “irritable bowel syndrome”, “IBS support groups”, or “IBS forum”.
When you visit your gastroenterologist, talk to people who are in the waiting room. You will never know if you get to make a friend here. Estimates are as high as fifty percent of gastroenterologist visits are IBS-related.
You can also form your own support group. Inform your doctor that you are doing so. He may even help you spread the word about your group.
Your pharmacist may be able to give you advice about your condition as well. They not only know about medicines, but they also talk to many doctors and patients every day. They may be able to give you some new advice about breakthroughs in research or new medications.
