Getting IBS Support
November 14th, 2006
IBS can make your life very difficult. If you have IBS, you probably already know how embarrassing this condition can be and how alone you sometimes feel. Knowing someone in the same situation as you can make life a little easier to cope. You can exchange notes and ideas for dealing with the condition and provide each other with emotional support.
IBS support groups are an excellent source of information from like-minded individuals. Knowing that other people suffer from the same problems as you can make your problem seem a little better and easier to deal with.
However, finding other IBS sufferers is not as simple as you might think. Many IBS sufferers do not seek help due to the embarrassing nature of this condition. This means that you will have to actively seek out these people.
Still, there should be a huge pool out there. Twenty percent of all Americans have IBS. Ask your physician or call your local hospital to see if they can recommend an IBS support group for you.
